Cisco Canada is serving up another Connected Experience at Rogers Cup!

For the second consecutive year, we are very excited to partner with Tennis Canada to deliver the ultimate fan experience at the 2012 Rogers Cup presented by National Bank! This event brings Canada to the centre stage of international sport, hosting some of the greatest tennis players in history. Last year, our collaboration with Tennis Canada was a huge success, demonstrating how spectators, journalists and athletes can truly be in two places at once. Not only were spectators and journalists delighted with the experience last year, the athletes were too!

This year, the men’s tournament will be hosted in Toronto at the Rexall Centre August 4 to 12, and the women’s tournament will be hosted at Uniprix Stadium in Montreal August 4 to 13. If you missed out on the 2011 tournament, here’s a video recaping of some of the fun:

Thanks to Cisco TelePresence technology, fans and journalists in Toronto will be able to connect with tennis stars in Montreal face-to-face, despite being roughly 500km apart. Cisco TelePresence provides an immersive meeting experience via high definition video and audio links, bringing users real-time communication in whichever city, province or country they find themselves in.

“When the Montreal and Toronto Rogers Cup events were moved to the same week, it became extremely important for us to ensure that both our fans and our media were able to stay connected to both tournaments,” said Karl Hale, tournament director, Rogers Cup presented by National Bank in Toronto. “Cisco TelePresence allowed us to accomplish this goal and we are excited to partner with them a second year to help implement this program.”

TelePresence will connect the Toronto and Montreal venues with endpoints located in the media rooms, Rogers Connected Zone in Toronto and the Casino Montreal Stage. Reporters working in the media centres will have full access to information from both cities, including opportunities to sit in on daily press conferences and interview the players seamlessly through video technology.

Fans will also have a chance to speak directly with some of their favourite players either live or through TelePresence on Monday, August 6 at 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday, August 7 to 9, at 2:30 p.m. from the Rogers Connected Zone in Toronto and the Casino Montreal Stage in Montreal.  Each day a new tennis star will participant in this unique fan experience.

Cisco Connected Sports solutions are helping teams, venues and events deliver more powerful, personalized fan experiences.  Rogers Cup presented by National Bank is a great example of how technology can elevate the fan experience at a sporting event. If you’re attending the tournament this year, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Cisco technology!
